Neat that they are still around.

I'm 59. Hot wheels were brand new when I was a kid. Still remember going to places like E.J. Korvette, Bradlees, and Barker's in SW CT and buying them. Had a lot of the first couple of years. Sold them and all my Matchbox through Bargain News (free classifieds listing newspaper) when I was a teenager in the mid-70s.

Of all the things, I really like that black Mk. 1 BP Racing Rabbit (Golf). My first new car and VW was a black 1983 Rabbit L in May 1983. 4 speed; 65 h.p. 1.7-L engine with a carb (1-bbl. Solex).*

      * That usually gets the "the 1983 Rabbit was NEVER available in the U.S. with a carb" folks out.

Hot Wheels turns 50 in 2018. They are still around and quite strong. There is a new Hot Wheels "track orange" edition Camaro hitting dealerships soon.

Mattel has a few 1:1 scale cars in their fleet too. This '57 Nomad is my favorite by far. Rear engine, blown and simply bad a$$.

I sold my collection about 15 years ago. I had some very rare models from 71-72 incling a 9+ condition 73 Mongoose Funny car that was the cornerstone. I sold the 150 car collection for about $3500, at the time the Mongoose was figured to be worth $8-900.00 I have no idea what it woud be worth now.

Ah!!! I had the Mongoose as well. Little did I know it would be fetching that kind of money today. Same with all of the Star Wars toys I passed on to my younger brother.

I love Hot Wheels! I love the Porsches and Hondas they’ve been putting out lately. I have a lot at work and they can always make a good conversation piece to break the ice with clients.

I've had a lot of 80's Hot Wheels cars in the 90's.

I used to buy a lot for my son up until last year.

I've always wanted a Deora II in real life ever since watching AcceleRacers.

I once pulled an 180 down a rainy street. I turned around and saw...a pebble. It all happened in slow motion, but...I knew it was too late.

That is what happened to most of my old cars and action figures. My brother is 10 years younger than me and when I went to college my mom gave him my toys... I have a handful of Star Wars figures that survived but none of my Matchbox/Hotwheels collection.

^ at least those are somewhat easier to find. I was collecting Hot Wheels but gave up since the horders and resellers constantly cleaned out stores of anything interesting to sell at flea markets and on CL.

I’ve got a few riding around my desk. I tend to pick up the 4x4’s that I love. I have a bunch of Land Rovers and always buy the Land Cruisers and 4runners when I see them.

I lean towards the ones that look “real” vs the ones that have graphics and add-ones that you’d never see irl.

My gf actually bought it online somewhere, it was like $80. That pic was taken with the door open, but it has a glass door that actually locks. I can ask here where she got it.

please do. shot glass holders work well also but with the partitions you can only get 28 displayed. i like how your shelves aren't partitioned.

She found it on Amazon, here's the full view for reference. Don't mind the creep in the reflection. Once I get the actual name I'll ping you

      You too?

Fortunately my four boys are spread from 2 to 7, so the younger two still play with Hot Wheels and the seven year olds are fully invested in Lego.

They're lucky that Lego makes these now (They didn't do licensing yet when I was playing with them), but still, they cost an arm and leg to buy...
