Had my oil changed at DAP Repair up in Cornelius, NC this evening. Stopped by a different Target and a Gamestop and... hit the mother lode. The guy flipping through cars next to me grabbed the 944 before I could get to it, but somehow he walked off without the Gulf GT-40 Super Treasure Hunt.

I also learned that Hot Wheels makes bottle opener cars

Nice scores! Congratulations on the super treasure hunt. I also hit a pretty good Wal-Mart today.

Don't give up, you'll find them eventually. I sometimes find the ones I missed months later at a market or $1 store when they get hit with lots of older cases. I found the SVX at Walmart, so eventually more stores will get them and then Target, who usually is a case behind. Case A is barely hitting some stores, so that 22B will be everywhere soon enough.

Thanks for giving me the heads up. I normally donít shop at Walmart. Ever. But I specifically stopped for these because I was in the neighborhood and they only had one or two hooks of regular Matchboxes and then a couple multipacks.

all of these were at my local Kroger. I had two of the VW/Porsche sets in my hand, but only bought one. the Skyline box was torn open/damaged, so I left that one there.

      welcome to the layer cake

Don't forget to look around for dump bins. Sometimes they are in main aisles near the toys and not in the aisles. I almost walked out of one last week but then stumbled upon bins and found some scores.

I also hate going to Wal Mart but it isn't horrible if you just go straight to toys and then to a self check out.

Have you tried local grocery stores? I found that they were ahead of walmart/target in what they put up which seems odd but I was able to get a couple things I was looking for such as the 22B and 83 Silverado.

Also Target is having a special this month for 25% off one Toy (text TOY to 827438 - Note does not work with the ID models). Makes the normal $13 Team transports ~$10. I found one of these sitting alone on the pegs and snagged it.

For grocery stores, its a huge YMMV. For my local Kroger affiliates and the other grocers, they are usually behind. I've seen the Kroger in Arizona (Frys) carry a better selection of cars than here in California, with better pricing too.

I snagged some R34 Nismo Team Transports at Target with the Target 25% off deal. You can use your Google Voice number to get the text as well.

Did anyone catch the Dollar General 3 day sale this past weekend when both Hot Wheels and Matchbox were BOGO?

That's true it is a gamble but it just another place to check if you're already there.

Yeah, basically you don't know what to expect. Lots of HW collectors use IG to communicate where the goods are popping up. Many times, finding certain cars are a surprise, which is part of the hunt.

I bought quite a lot, I could return some them to Target so it makes sense. Didn't find anything that great since it is cars I've already gotten. I got beat by the usual scalpers, but to get half off on cars when you purchase a lot is a big deal for me.

Walmarts around me donít have dump bins anymore, that Iíve seen. Grocery stores vary wildly. The little store in the hood ranges from new to a couple of years old, the others are usually a bit behind what Target has. Luckily I have an 8yo little dude, and he visits more stores than I do so he has briefed and he is on the case.

My display case came in today. Its fairly bare until I find a spot for it and load it up.

I didn't realize it came with a premium car. Its pretty cool looking.
