If I'm doing my math right I need to go up 134 clicks going from a 100 yard zero to 600 yards. Seems like a lot.

I looked up the drop for my ammo. 100.7 inch drop 100 yard zero to 600 yards. My scope is 1/8" clicks at 100 yards.

      So 100.7 / 6 * 8 = 134. I'm questioning whether the scope will have that many clicks to give me. It's a 10-40x so I suppose it should. Just hoping I don't need a riser.

Does my math make sense or did I botch that?

Does it not have a bullet drop reticle?

      It does not.

I was able to find out that my scope has 40 MOA full adjustment so I'll be fine though. The drop from 100 to 600 is only 16 MOA.

      Thanks.

I printed out the data from Federal's website. The calculator is cool.

      http://www.federalpremium.com/ballistics_calculator/

Got the drop in 50 yard increments from 100 to 600 in both inches and MOA.

Looked at the math again using MOA instead of inches and it comes out to 128 so I was pretty close with the fat math. Just seems like A LOT of clicks.

It is a lot of clicks. Typically you have a reticle designed for your calibre with a drop reticle. So you only should be making micro adjustments for different loads, elevation, windage, etc.

If I were you I'd switch scopes.

I just made this chart. I hate having to do the MOA crap. Thinking in clicks is the wrong way to do it, but this is the easy way to think about it.

I printed out the drop from the federal calculator in inches and MOA. Then it's just 8 (clicks per MOA on my scope) x the MOA drop. Then small adjustments are just 1/8" x (yards/100). So at 600 yards it's 1 click = 1/8" x 6 = 3/4".

It's a lot easier now that I've worked with it a few times. The practice session last weekend was a big help. If I can duplicate what I did last weekend this upcoming weekend I'll qualify no problem.
