HPFP failed last week in my wife's 2011 Q7 (3.0 CATA tdi) with a little over 100k . Ordered a new pump and need to know what special tools are needed to locate the Crank and Camshaft for proper pump "timing"
Hey man, same thing happened with my 3.0 not long ago. replaced the pump but then discovered further issues. there is a proper way to do it though the dealer service manual....but good luck getting one of those. i just marked the position of the toothed pully in relation to some known points and went from there.. the pump shaft is keyed to a certain spot so its fairly easy to do. Only pain is getting the belt back on.
Hopefully you already won with this but just in case. also id recommend flushing and getting your injectors cleaned.
