This randomly began on my way to work. It's extremely loud. Any idea what this may be? I took a short video of the sound. Thanks in advance.

I don't know the 2.0 very well, but maybe belt tensioner pulley?

      Lift the hood.

See if it's coming from the belt side (on the left as you look from the front) or elsewhere.

      If the belt:
See if it goes on or off with A/C compressor. (does your A/C function?) If the belt, replace belt. Water pump seized would have rewarded you with a stripped cambelt by now, and motor wouldn't run

      If not the belt:
Does it 'quieten briefly as you 'blip' the throttle, then get louoder again as the revs decline again? -If so, remove the oil cap. -See if it stops. -This is actually not unlikely, and means some sort of failure of a valve in the emissions/recirculation system.

That's all I got for now...

I'll try the A/C and oil cap. I do notice that if I blip the throttle (while car is parked/in neutral) it screams a bit. And as soon as I turn the car off/remove key a faint, little scream happens every time.

It might also be the alternator pulley clutch. In any case, see if the belt tensioner is vibrating.

If it keeps going after you turn off the engine, check the fans on the radiator. They might be rubbing on something. (but that wouldn't change with the throttle blip.)

Belt tensioner is vibrating. Though I'm not sure it's vibrating any differently than it's always vibrated. This noise is happening before the two fans on the radiator are even engaging. Using the A/C slightly exacerbates the problem.

Alternator pulley doesn't HAVE a clutch... and the tensioner will always 'hop' and 'ride' (I wouldn't say 'vibrate').

This could be completely crazy, but I did park under a tree yesterday which dropped a ton of leaves/junk on top of my car (especially on the hood/windshield). I'm wondering if some seeds/leaves or debris fell through the car and got down into the engine area and or belt.

I want to say it is, but I just can't be certain. It's not happening as consistently as it was in the video. I have to blip the throttle or roll the car forward/reverse to get the noise to happen now.

No. Appointment scheduled at the VW dealer tomorrow. I hope it's okay driving home and to the dealer tomorrow morning.

Not to my knowledge. I never received anything from AoA on a recall.

Welp, just got off the phone with AoA, never received it, but I have an open recall for the PCV valve and fuel pressure sensor. Thoughts?

Engine running, oil cap off (and/or dipstick) and the car wheezes and shakes around a good bit creating my own vacuum leak.

All sorts of red lights are flashing in my head after finding these two threads:

      http://www.audiforums.com/forum/audi...-valve-172009/
      http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2809353

Is my car okay to drive until Tuesday (when my recall work is being completed)? Or should I drop it off now?

      Thanks.

It ur call, I would play it safe and try and get the recalls done ASAP and only drive the car to the dealer. Before going I would check the oil level, to be safe

It's a fairly easy job for them. -If the squealing stops when you pop the cap, that's it, which is why I mentioned it in the first post.

I wouldn't drive it more than to the dealership, if there's a loaner that you can drive instead.

Oh those "wonderful" folks at SUN Motors won't be able to give me a loaner until sometime in July.

Earliest they can get me in is Tuesday morning. Really sorta stuck at the moment.
