Perhaps the most "bargain" priced modern-Porsche out there, I'd love to mirror the 993 appreciation thread to show its potential.

Just looked on ebay and these things are cheap. So what's life like owning a 10 year old Porsche with ~55k? Would the maintenance cost kill you?

      My fav road models.
1999 GT3 (better looking body kit than the later 996 gen GT3 imo)

C4S (Better looking than the turbo imo)

      I myself would never pick a 993 over a water-cooled version.

I think the real question is:
Would your Mom pick a 993 over a water-cooled version?
It's certainly not flagship, we know that.

If you have to ask TCL you can't afford it.

I am not going to lie, besides the GT3, GT2 and Turbo, I have no love for the 996 and its droopy headlights even though I greatly enjoy the 993 and 997.

Shows just how important headlight design is.

This is the revised version of what you just tried to say? Damn I would hate to see what the original looked like.

Somehow the dashboard of the early 996s remind me of a similar vintage Ford F-150, that aside, I think they're pretty good looking, actually I like the plainer ones better.

I took a 996 Turbo out for a ride a few weeks ago. It was lowered on chrome HRE's and had a Tubi exhaust. Very nice car. Much. much better than the POS Carrera 4 Tip Cab that I drove.
I'm not a big fan of turbo motors but the 996TT has minimal lag and winds up pretty quickly on boost. It felt a little quicker than my car past 70. People like to complain about the shifters in T56 cars(Corvette, Viper, Cobra) but the one is the Turbo is pretty damn bad. The AWD made the car pretty boring to flog in a straight-line but I'd guess that in rain the car is a beast.
In terms of communication and personality, it was right between the C5 and the 360.
All that said, all that car needed was a chip and it'd be close to an A+ ride.
