What grips are those on there? I really like those. Was looking into some carbon ones for mine RIA but haven't liked anything I have seen. Those would be great I think.

http://duragrips.com/-strse-210/Gove...ips/Detail.bok - cost effective too. The only thing I've seen cheaper is the factory rubber grips (Kimber).

cant sleep, not because I get my lower in 7 hours...... just because I cant sleep.

Whats cool though is my friend that I'm taking to pick up his first AR15 lower. Just finished his first week of the CHP academy, should be some fun story's to come from this trip. I guess his knuckles are a mess from doing knuckle pushups while holding a baton. Its no wonder these guys are dicks when they clear the academy. LOL

Just finished putting the M16 together.

It is pictured with my 10.5" LWRC upper and AAC M4-2000 suppressor.

That should be damn fun...how do you like your LWRC upper? I'm selling off my last LWRC upper sometime soon (the 5.45 model). Just don't find time to use them, but still love the company.

12 cents a round kinda makes me want to find a gun that i can burn through some ammo with.

      LO,

I have two 5.45 AK's worked over by Rifle Dynamics, and a NIB LWRC 5.45mm M6A2 upper I'll be selling off (the C-product magazines aren't fully reliable, and its wasting space in my cabinet).

5.45 is awesome, and I don't even shoot corrosive surplus. New stuff from Silver Bear can be found $0.19 a round shipped...so I don't have to worry about cleaning up the mess. (Also V-MAX is now available at something like $0.30 a round for good defensive use).

My AKs are simply phenomenal to shoot.

You can find WASR-2's at Aim Surplus for $350 sometimes. Also MSAR just released the E4 in 5.45x29 - but the price tag is $1700. I was on the list for one, but it uses the same C-Products magazines which are iffy.

Spike's has a fancy mid-length 5.45 AR upper coming out -but they are using modified followers in their C-product magazines which should make them more reliable. It may or may not be available right now. 5.45 will also feed out of PMAGs if you short-load them. There are plenty of options out right now.

Also, S&W has had a 5.45 upper out for a while. Same issues with magazines though. If you're looking for a good training rifle, the ARs in 5.45 would give you plenty of cheap shooting, and a variety of failure practices. They are so close to being a great alternative - but someone needs to iron out a proper magazine solution. I don't currently own any rifles that I would not use to defend myself - so until a magazine solution is developed, my LWRC is not being fired or used.

I am surprised to hear about problems with C-products mags - I've got a bunch for my AR, and they have always been totally great. Are these 5.45 specific mags, or are they just using the 5.56 ones? Is it a widespread problem?

Yes the C-Products 5.45 mag is the problem. Poor spring, and crap follower...I have some pieces coming in to see if I can fix some. C-Products is aware and they said they're doing research - we'll see. All in all, sad. And a potential gold mine for someone to figure it out...between the MSAR, S&W, Spikes, LWRC etc...all in 5.45 and not a good magazine to be had - someone could make some good money finding a winning combo.
