Aladdin (2019) - Wife wanted to see it but my kids and I thought we were not going to like it. We all ended up being entertained. Will Smith did a good job as Genie and not trying to be a carbon copy of Robin Williams. The same could be said about the entire movie actually, not trying to be a carbon copy of the original. The actor who played Jafar was good, Princess Jasmine was attractive, etc. The biggest fault was the first act of the movie before we see the Genie kind of drags. I probably wouldn’t have watched it if not for my wife’s “urging” but not mad that we did. If on the fence, I’d wait for home video.

Brightburn (2019) - It's the traditional Superman story…husband/wife on a Kansas farm find a baby boy from space and raise it. At age 12, the boy discovers his powers but instead of using it for good, he’s a real dick. Take that concept and use it to make a Rated-R horror flick.

      Pork Pie

      https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4834220/

New Zealand road trip/Rom Com/buddy movie. Somewhere along the lines of Thelma and Louise but with some dark humor. Worth watching but nothing earth shattering.

      Rocketman

The lead looked nothing like Kim Jong Un (in fact none of the characters were Asian) and the music choices were so poorly chosen as to be a major distraction.

Captain Marvel. I feel asleep half the way through it, just couldn't get interested in the story. Maybe it was the fragmented story line, maybe the characters. I'm not sure.
Glad I didn't see it in the theatre though.

      Godzilla.
So this is ok. Lots of monsters. Really great visuals and sound. But despite a solid cast the story is pretty bad.

I had higher hopes after being so impressed with along: Skill Island.

I had a low energy Wednesday night and watched 3 movies:

Ready Player One - I think I've seen it 5 times now. Channeling my inner 13 year old boy.

I Robot - I've always thought Bridget Moynahan was hotter than Giselle.

      Rogue One - Fun fluff

1 - Watched Senna recently after the passing of Niki Lauda & saw this pop up as a suggested. Refresher on the bad ol' days of Formula 1.

Rocketman (2019) - typically, not a fan of musicals but really liked this one and it exceeded my expectations. I like Elton John's music so that certainly helps. Taron Egerton was excellent as Elton and his singing was really good. If Taron Egerton isn't at least nominated for a ton of best actor awards, something isn't right in the world...

Agreed. Back when it came out when I was in high school, I saw it in the theaters 27 times.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) - it wasn't great but it also wasn't as bad as the 23% Rotten Tomatoes score would make it out to be. I'd say it was a "C" but watching in a Dolby Cinema at AMC screen did make it more entertaining.

I thought about this but watching the trailer confirmed why I gave up this franchise, they all do way too much, like over the top stuff to the point of sensory overload. They give many of these villains and non-villains so much over-the-top-ability that it becomes redundant/pointless and simply unwatchable for me.

As I was watching it, I was thinking about how much of it is CGI. It's well done CGI to the point that most people wouldn't even really think about it at all but at what point does it become a cartoon? That's how most blockbuster films are now, not just superhero movies. Overall, it wasn't great and if you are on the fence about seeing it...wait for home video. It would have also might have been better if it were Rated-R.

I have AMC Stubs A-List so I can see 3 movies a week...the only thing I waste is time
