Does anyone have the proper wiring for a replacement VW alternator? I believe I have the Bosch one. I currently have 2 wires connected to it, a + that is connected directly to the battery (shouldn't this go to the starter?) as well as the light blue wire to the VR post. It is getting ground through the bracket currently - though I am not sure this is supposed to.
The alternator IS charging the battery, and is outputting the proper voltage, but the alternator light is on while the car is running, even with the proper voltage output (revving the engine does not help).
Bentley's is my next purchase - which is a good thing as I now have 3 of these Bunnies in my garage.

what is a VR post? blue wire is the exciter wire to let the alt charge and tell the light to go off while charging.

Voltage regulator post. The alternator is charging properly, though the light does not go off.

      .
That would be very odd. What voltage is the alternator outputting?

yes voltage must be at least 13.8 when charging.
