Yes, I have done more research and have paid more attention to it, and it is clearly some sort of throttle delay. I see the RPMs increase, but the cat just doesn't move.

I did take it to a local...

I've been paying more attention to this over the last few days, and it is not over-revving, and it also is not slipping the clutch. It's that I need to push the go pedal for a long time before it...

Thanks for the note. I don't have personal access to VCDS, but I know people who do, and I'll have the DSG reset.

I'm probably being overly critical, but I remember absolutely loving the...

      Mushy start from complete stop

      Hi, all.

In the 2006-2009 timeframe, I had a Jetta TDI pkg2 DSG and loved it. Our family grew, so we sold it and bought a minivan. Anyway, a couple weeks ago, I bought a used 2013 Jetta TDI w/...

I thought readers might be interested in an update about my Jetta. Finally got it back earlier this week, and my buddy at the dealership cracked open the bad transmission. The bearings on the...

Thanks. The price of the transmission unit from the dealer is the same as 888vwtranny.com, but I'd be getting a new one and the website is selling a rebuilt one. Another $1k or so is for a clutch...
    7. 92k and metal in fluid... now I need new tranny... what gives?!

      Greetings, all.

I have a 2003 Jetta 1.8T GLS with a 5-speed manual transmission, with about 92k miles on the clock. I have done all service by the book, at the dealership. On Monday morning...

      Engine braking

      Hi again, all.

I have a 2003 Jetta 1.8T with the 5-speed manual transmission, and I was wondering whether engine braking would be detrimental to the engine and/or the transmission. I usually use...

      Thanks.

I had done a few forum searches but hadn't come up with anything. Then I remembered another search term: longevity. Lots of posts on 1.8T longevity, and what you say seems to be the...

      Question about driving style

      Hello, all.

I looked at the FAQ but either I missed the answer to this question, or there isn't one.

Anyway, I have a 2003 Jetta 1.8T with about 85k on the clock, and my driving...

      Question about hard driving

      Greetings, all.
I posted this at TDI Club, but it directly relates to the DSG too, so I'm copying my post here. I did some searches but didn't find anything really related to my question, so here...
    12. Re: (abawp)

Yeah, I'm keeping my OEM "sport" suspension.
So, awesome! A single purchase at mjm and I'm good to go.
      Thanks!
    13. Re: (abawp)

So, is there anything I would need to install these FSDs that isn't in this rebuild kit?
A friend & I are going to try it ourselves. I've decided to go with the FSDs + a rear sway bar (not sure...
    14. Re: (zak)

The Neuspeed springs I was referencing are these ones in this kit.
But I guess I could just buy the FSD shocks and the SofSport springs separately, but that's definitely a costlier option.
      But...
    15. Re: (NOVAdub)

OK, the more I look into this, the more I see 3 options:
      - FSD shocks only, for ~$650
      - FSD shocks + Neuspeed springs for ~$750
      - FSD shocks + Eibach springs for ~$850
And I see 3 good places to...
    16. Re: (f1forkvr6)

      Thanks for the suggestion.
One of the guys in the local group suggested Koni FSDs, and a guy at the local mod shop suggested KYB AGX shocks (never heard of them) and Spax springs (never heard of...
    17. Trying to make sense of all this (and need a new suspension for my MKIV)

      Greetings, all.
My MKIV is 5 years old (OK, 5 years and 2 months), with about 63k miles on it. For a year, a friend has been telling me that I need a new suspension. At my most recent service...
    18. Anything for a MKIV Jetta that approaches a BMW's handling?

      Greetings, all.
I know my 2003 Jetta will never handle like a BMW, but I wonder: is there anything available that will help it approach a BMW's handling? Over the weekend, I drove a friend's 2003...

Body roll in and of itself does not indicate the car lacks grip, so even though you have some body roll, all may still be well.

      Order of performance mods?

      Greetings, all.
I have read several back entries in the forum, and I'm wondering how much the order of performance mods really matters.
      I have a 2003 Jetta 1.8T with sport suspension and stock 17"...
