 Battery Mounting solutions« »

I am looking to find a place to relocate the battery to. I also am entertaining the idea of buying a braille.

The battery will not fit in the engine bay. I am thinking driverside where the SMIC was sitting.

This is on a TT quattro of course.

I am just worried about water getting to it and shorting it out....anyone have some other good suggestions.

yea for some stupid reason...I would like to keep as much stuff out of the trunk as possible. Next issue I have is how to figure out what I should do with a Resevior for the awic so that i can still get to it with some ice.

The res and the battery can be in the spare tire well.

Its the same battery as the braille battery, just relabled cheaper. There are few people running them on their 1.8t and tons more on evos with no issues, even in the winter. The CCA is a good bit higher than what is advertised

Some have mounted their lightweight battery solutions beneath the frame rail where it sits normally.

How about you put it on your roof and design it so it looks like a cab? I think the only place for the battery is in the engine area. You've got to live with.

You guys are trying to save weight, keeping the weight over the NOSE of the car is not a good idea. Keeping it low is good, but where the stock SMIC would be is in front of the front wheels, not good. If you can get it in the trunk/under passenger seat / etc, that'd be better. Deka's work great, I've ran an EXT20L (i think) for years with no issues.

HAHA...im not really concerned about saving weight.

Just looking to keep acess to the trunk with what limited space it already has.

I would rock the resevior in the wheel well, but it would be impossible to actually get ice to it without taking off the front bumper while at the track.

I thought about flipping the batter on the side like water&air, but wasnt sure exactly how he kept the terminals clear of the metal on the awic set up or the body.

Plus i wanted to keep it out of the trunk so that i did not have to mount a kill switch in on the back.
