Q5 Lease | « » 1:12 PM 2/20/2009

I received an email today from my dealer telling me he now has lease information on the Q5. I will go there next week to see what they are offering. Has anyone else heard anything about lease offers yet?

I heard basic lease numbers today. Money factors are super low and residuals are competitive. I was quoted with $2k of cap reduction down at MSRP a lease of $549 a month before tax on a Premium + car. that is VERY reasonable and Audi is doing very good to get these lease rates and APR rates low.

Is that 36 months or longer? Someone over at Audiworld said he was quoted this:Premium Plus $42.8K: 36 month lease, 15K miles per year, $3K down, $645/month

Ok, fresh out of the dealership and here are the numbers I was quoted on a Q5 Prem plus with navagation, zero down, 15 k miles per year, 36 months. The discount was $ 325 off list, the residual is 47% , the money factor is .00037. It came out to $ 687.86/month plus sales tax and inception fees due up front. They would not move off the number in spite of me walking out without buying. I do not think I would be able to pay close to list price for anything during this recession. Too many other nice rides are being deeply discounted.

If you are willing to wait, you will have a much stronger negotiating position. Because the Q5 is a brand new model, demand is at its highest point relative to supply. Only after the early adopters have made their purchases will dealers be willing to negotiate. In this economic environment, I find it hard to believe that prices won't come down quite a bit six to eight months from now, especially with increased competition from not only the GLK, but also new model rebuilds in the X3 & SRX.

I think because of its modern (LED daytime running lights and night time xenon ) look it will remain a hot selling SUV for quite sometime. None of the other SUV's (Glk,RX and X3) have this. Because of the front LED's the Q5 is a head turner when you drive it. The other problem is supply. The salesmen tried to locate a Black on Black premium plus without the NAV and told us there are only 3 coming into the country among the dealer orders. So we did a factory order which will be in about mid May (90 days). hopefully sooner. I personally never lease, I buy. Locally here the local credit union is offering 4.25% on auto loans up to 60 months which is better then the 4.9% that audi is offering on 60 months. but if you can swing 3 years Audi is showing 2.9% or 3.9% for 4 years. Also according to edmunds there's either 1500 or 750 cash back for returning AFS customers. What I find strange about the current offers is that they were only available from 2/18/09-03/03/09. Maybe after 03/03/09 they will come out with a better lease or purchase offer. The other thing I find strange is edmunds "what others are paying" seems low (Edmunds premium plus no nav TMV price $40,934)unless you take into consideration Audi's loyalty rebate. If you figure the full $1500 you come out to about MSRP ($100 over) if you figure the $750 then there's about a $650 discount off MSRP. Since this is my first Audi I don't qualify for the rebate But I'm happy getting the discount off MSRP that I did. In the end where I think you will see the discounts is in the base premium model because the "LOOK" isn't the same as the premium plus or the outragous prestige

This mirrors the expiration date of the other AFS programs for February. You can expect Q5 programs to remain this competitive from here on out. If lease rates go up, then the payments will start to rival, and or exceed, Q7 payments, which AoA knows is not a good idea.

I agree. Remember the A5 had a much longer waiting list and you couldn't get anything off MSRP first year. So 3 months for a brand new Audi model is not that incredibly long. I think you will get a better price in a few months. The Q5 remains much more expensive than Japanese competitors (Lexus/Acura) so I'm not convinced yet with the current economic conditions that people ignore the extra price tag. But more people might lease now.

I have until the end of June before my current X3 lease expires so things may change. I would feel ripped off if my lease payments are calculated on a $ 45,000 selling price when Edmunds is telling me the invoice is $ 42,210. How people can try to be greedy in this economic climate is beyond me. I am getting another price from a different dealer so I will see if he is more realistic.

I don't see how a dealer is being greedy. Giving a small 500 discount off a car that most dealers don't even have yet is not insulting anybody. If you want the new and hottest of anything the 1st few weeks, you're going to have to pay a little more for it. $2700 is not a lot of mark-up in a 42k Audi. The profit margins on these cars are thin. Audi dealers have NO dealer holdback. There can be 1,000, 2000 ++ in other domestic brands in holdback under invoice. You can't keep the lights on selling every brand new car @ invoice. Also, with the market and depreciation, residuals on every car are lower than the past. The cost of leasing is going up for everybody. What you leased a car for in 2007 and 2009 is quite different.

what jperry said cause we are both audi sales people. We just got word late last week that we will get in 7 Q5's this week to sell. Most other cars will not arrive until the middle of March. These lease rates are EXTREMELY competitive. websites like Edmunds have no clue about pricing on this car because they arent officially for sale yet. If any of you read the main page Fourtitude links, you will see that Audi is not as hard hit as almost every other MFG out there. They are going strong with advertising and from what i have read, the Q5 really has a change to be a strong #2 car behind the bland but volume heavy Lexus RX350. Go drive the Q5 then drive an X3, EX35, or GLK and i really dare you to say any of those 3 are all around a better car than the Audi for the price and value.

Hmm Audi not as hard hit? Sure they are more optimistic:Jan 2009 Jan 2008 4,722 6,418 -27% Sales of the Q5 should reduce the decline but but hard to predict at this point how much. BMW 'only' lost 15% compared to last year. But most other companies certainly had higher declines. I find the RX bland as well but that's rather because the redesign looks very much like the previous gen (pity). But the Audi Q5 will look bland in a few years as well (some may find it already predictable/ bland now). You do pay little bit premium on the Q5 so will be interesting to see how well it will sell in this recession given that Lexus/Acura is much cheaper. Difficult to predict though.

I don't begrudge any dealer the right to charge as much as the market will allow. At the same time, we as consumers have the right to search and haggle for the best price. That's how capitalism works (at least in theory.) Based on what I've seen so far, I really like the Q5, more than the EX35 & GLK; however I think I'm going to wait several months to see if prices drop. I am constitutionally opposed to paying full price for something if I have a choice. But that's just me. Equally important, I am awaiting the reviews for new X3 and SRX redesigns, which I believe should be out around that time. I currently drive a Lexus RX350 (what can I say, it drives like a boat but is a very reliable & comfortable automobile) which is fully paid off so I have the luxury of waiting. But I would be willing to buy a Q5 in the next few months if I found the right price. Forums like these are an invaluable resource to get a sense of current market prices. So thanks in advance to people posting their offers.

Re: Second Q5 lease quote » | « » 12:57 PM 2/25/2009

Ok, went to another dealership and got a second quote on the Q5 lease I am after. Here are the numbers. MSRP: $ 45,325 term 36 months 15k mi per year, sales price $ 44,025 residual value 50 % money factor .00037, zero down, payment $ 659/month. That is almost $ 30/ month less than my first quote, so not all the Audi dealerships are greedy after all. They are discounting the car more and also have a higher residual value. I have found a friend with a contact at a third dealership and I will get their quote in March when the numbers maybe lower. Has anyone else here received a Q5 lease quote?

Interesting thought. My first Q5 quote was to a fourtitude member. There was a discount. a decent one too. If it comes down to 30 bucks a month...maybe its not the right car for you. Do you really think we're all buying R8's with the crazy money were making on you? I'm by no means a greedy person, but do you really blame the salesperson for wanting more than a flat on a brand new model? An Audi isn't cheap, stop trying to make them cheap. I'll give a deal to anyone who wants an Q5. Not sticker, but definatly not invoice.

someone put it If the Audi is too expensive for you, then its not the car meant for you. I had a guy scoff at me 2 days ago for "only" discounting a Q7 $2,000 plus giving him a $1,500 rebate because his son has an Audi. That is $3,500 from us to help him on a new 09 Q7 and he got pissed. Couldn't believe i would only discount it that much. I explained to him we have no incentives on this car, and that maybe he wasn't ready to own an Audi yet. Boy he didn't like that but it surely hit home. when walking out the door nearly bitching me out for the lousy discount i said " i understand what you are saying sir, but if you are buying a car for strictly because of a discount, i am sure there are a few Chevy and GM dealerships that will welcome you with open arms."the lease rates are what they are. if you can't afford it, then you can't afford it. As salespeople we make a flat commission no matter what the car sells for. Once we lose any profitability on the car, that flat stays the same. We are not pulling in $80-$100k a year selling you all A4's and A3's that pay us about $200 each. But the 2009 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster i sold this week certainly made up for a lot of Audi's

Just got a great price in NJ; MSRP $45,325 (Prem+ / Nav), $3,300 total out of pocket, including all fees and sales tax, $590/month 36 months, 12k and this includes Audi Care. The money factor now is ridiculous, 0.00022.

I got mine at DCH in Maplewood NJ. They had best overall service and sales person was excellent (Andrew Woolcock). Bell in Edison quoted best deal by email, but they were very shady in how it was presented, and only after a few conversations did they admit it did not include taxes, then they dropped the price after that again to try to get me in.Bell quoted the $590 I mentioned in my earlier post, but I went with DCH at $599 as I still think Bell had something shady in the deal that was going to bite me in the a** when it came time to finalize all the paperwork. DCH was completely upfront and open and no hidden charges and knew the product the best of all the dealers in my area. Could not recommend them more.

I will be sitting down with my dealer this week to hammer out cost of Q5 premimum+ or S Line. What residuals did you receive on your Q5? I have seen them any where from 45 to 50%. I live in WV, but have asked for Bids from all dealers with in 300 miles that show Deep Sea Blue Premimum + Q5. Have not located an S Line yet. Did see a blog yesterday announcing the delivery of one to Charlotte Audi. About a 7 hour drive for me... may be a bit much! I will be acquiring mine using the Audi Supplier Purchase Program... from their certificate it's MSRP - 6%. I also noticed that dealer gets compensated for 3%, so I still have some negotiating room.

You are a saleman, you have no power in term of giving discount or anything. You have to bring the customer's offer to your sale manager and he'll give you his offer so you can bring back to your customer. Don't act like you are more than a saleman.

Audi Care covers all scheduled maintenance for the life of the lease (36 months) and if you get it it increases the residual they use from 49% for base lease (with 12k/yr) to 50%, so the net cost ends up being about $300 ($740 - impact of higher residual) or so.
