I got inspired by the SpanishA4 custom LED posted, so this is what happened... | « » 1:59 AM 2/25/2008 | |

Well, I got p**nis envy with the custom project shown (posted here - A4 from Audisport-iberia- front LEDs in the headlamp) So i got a little inspired to fiddle with a little project. However, I think i went overboard!!! Stop the insanity!!! Anyways, pictures below shows the Angelbrows project from previous, and the new lower LEDs. I must say, I'm quite amazed that it actually now acts as a pseudo-DRL- the ingress of the foglamp grills provided a "hood" so the LEDs can be seen in daylight. Here it is with just the Brows and the new lower LEDs on:

very visible from side view--but here's a front quarter: with fogs on
And All lights on! (camera adjusted to remove glare)

Get rid of the stock fog lights and just run the led strips on the bottom...That would be ultimate-sexy. More - turn off the normal headlights, and just run all four led strips. You might be a spaceship.

yeah, i can turn off the fog-lights no problem (like the first pic- - since the LEDs are connected to the parking lamp power source.) yeah it gives off that weird car/UFO coming at ya effect.. And unfortunately, removing the foglamps calls for removing the fog-grills- and that's where the LEDs are attached. The ingress in the fog-grills limits the lenght of the LEDs.This project is easily removable- just in case i get flamed... Modified by tiptronic at 11:49 PM 2/24/2008

I'd say keep one or the other--but not both. The "brows" are kinda cool in that they light up the housings. However, the LED strips in the foglight grills look more RS6--which is also cool. Keeping both just looks like overkill. Matt

It looks pretty cool on the last pic. Definitely needs to have one or the other removed but I think you could go either way and come out with a great look. I'd probably tend to favor the eyebrow LEDs. Gives it that "angry" look! Maybe you could rename to angrytiptronic!

Actually, makes me think of something else. But congrats with all the work; looks like fun. I agree with above that it should look decent without regular fogs.

Where did you get the LED strips from? Are they normal led's or are they the super bright Luxeon star 3 watt LED's?

Liking the lower LED. Maybe center the strip with the fog for a better appearance and uniformity. Might do that with mine.

Thought about that..actually got better materials today so i can properly have these mounted and not look too sloppy. I placed it on the first top slat of the fog grill because i was taking advantage of the hole for the wires. but I beleive i can move it to the center slat. I was concerned also about the "hood" effect of the bumper, that it provides the shade from the sunlight glare so it still can be seen during daytime, that's why i placed it on the top slat...but we'll check it out with the middle slat. thanks for the feedback. -is it a 3watt LED? no this is not the 3watt led - that requires true electronic expertise to put together (resistors, heat sink, waterproofing, etc) these LEDs are bright, but not AUDI LED DRL bright (I beleive they use 3 watt leds for those), being that they are a 'ribbon' type strips, they are limited to the amount of light they produce- hence best seen when low light/ overcast, shaded area or end -dusk till dawn. I've seen the R8s and neue S6 on the streets and those are the real deal!!! I thought for a bit that it maybe overdone..but i like it.. and actually get other driver's attention.
