mk4 jetta 12v vr6 EXHAUST HELP! | « » 3:08 PM 12/6/2007 | |
|
I'm trying to find out which exhaust is the best for my 12v vr6. I've looked into Magnaflow, GHL, Autotech, Neuspeed, Techtonics Tuning, and Remus. I'm trying to go for that deep tone without being too annoying on the highway. I've heard that the loudest sounding ones are the magnaflow or ghl. I was thinking of going with remus, but someone also said that Techtonics tuning with the borla muffler is ok. Does anyone out there have any advise to give or experience with any of these complete exhaust kit companies?

its cheaper to just get the borla muffler and cat and take it to meineke and have them weld it into your system. and the borla is loud and keeps a good low tone throught the rpm band.

wow, this is like the fourth time ive seen a thread like this, this week......my advice is still the same......the two most popular ones are the Magnaflow and the TT/Borla....most popular size for the piping is 2.5" (Stainless Steel)....and as far as the sound....go to youtube, type in vr6 or 12v followed by the name of the exhaust you want to hear....i personally like the magnaflow sound, it doesnt seem abnoxiously loud, but still has a nice growl

yeah i've tried looking for exhaust forums on here and didnt find any that show advice on types of exhaust systems... i've heard magnaflow, and asked someone who had a gti vr6, and the guy you had a gti vr6 said he hated his magnaflow exhaust because its loud especially on the highway.

...its all about the size of the piping and whether or not he had a cat....ive heard people who said a magnaflow wasnt overbearing at all

what if i went with a magnaflow downpipe w/ cat 2.25" and a 2.25" stainless remus exhaust system? do you think that would give me that deep tone without being overbearing on the highway or get me in trouble with the police?

Go with the 2.5". I have the TT/Borla set-up and it's not loud or obnoxious and I've never heard a VR system that would get you in trouble with the police. I believe Techtonics sells and additional resonator if you want it a bit quieter. The only time I notice a slight drone is if I have more than 2 people in the car and I'm putting a decent load on the engine, then from about 2800 thru 3200 rpm I get a drone. Don't really notice it too much though.

Jettas don't usually have a problem with drone anyway.

Makes sense since the pipes are longer. Guess I didn't pay attention to the fact the OP had a Jetta.

Your tailpipe was probably just too short. If you have it stick past the bumper about 2" it goes away.
