Just when manufacturers thought it was safe to go back into the pool, the internet proves it's not. Happy we're not working a PR job and it's our responsibility to keep these things secret, here are the first official photos of the Audi RS6... before Audi has even handed them out.

Many new details can be gleaned by looking over the photos. There are details like the great-looking new RS design wheels, what looks like new LED-lit city lights in the main headlight housing and even the ur-Quattro inspired flared fenders.

We're not sure where they came from, but they first came to our attention thanks to a Portuguese user in our CarLounge forum. Along with the pics, he posted the following.

Also, why does it only have the standard S mirrors and not the mirrors from the RS4, looks like the S5/S6 seats, and no fog lights? Don't like the fog light housings (not sure if that's what you call them when there's no fog lights) not being the same mesh as the grill like they are on the RS4. Maybe the saloon will be more striking to me. Sure hope they do more for the RS5 than this.

i find on RSportsCars that rs6 requries just 4.4seconds for the sprint from a standing start to 60 mph, and reaches the 124 mph mark in a mere 14.9 seconds.http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/audi_rs6.asp

Speculation that says otherwise doesn't make any sense.

As for the RS6 Avant, well it was never in the US, so why would they do it now? BMW didn't release the M5 wagon in the US either.

Right. If they aren't going to bring over the RS6 sedan, then what the heck would be the point in bringing over the R8????? Wouldn't make much sense not to bring it, especially if you take the R8 into consideration.

You would have to think that there is a very very small market for a $115k-ish super powered station wagon for the American market. Yes there are those that would buy them just to have the car for sure, but the price tag would have to be hefty and well above the $100k range for sure.

Aside from that we know there will indeed be a sedan based upon the many spy photo's we've seen of a such a car lapping the "ring".

Sometimes I get to thinking why doesn't Audi just kill the S car lineup and replace it with the RS cars altogether? Surely such a move would increase Audi's competitiveness in the segment and reduce costs significantly, to both Audi and the consumer. What do I know though. I'm just an enthusiast.
