Eagle-eyed reader Philip Dea spotted one of Audi's North American-spec A5 preproduction cars in California recently. We've confirmed this car's existence with several Audi of America representatives who've driven the very car. Note in particular the wheels, a new design not-yet seen but definitely due to go into production say our sources.

I was sitting in traffic going home (just watching the northbound 101 moving along.. just looking at so many people hogging the #1, even with an empty #2) -- and then I saw this beauty
-it was in the #2 (another Audi was in the #1; likely gawking at it) .. it is very striking in person.

But that is an A5, no?

Looks like it is integrated in the deck lid.

Hmmm, yeah, I think it might be. The lower fascia looks A5, though I could have sworn the guys who drove it said it was an S5. I'll correct.

Its an A5. The fogs cut into the bumper, and the grille isn't "S" spec

The lower bumper treatment is similar to the one on the A4 S-line vs. regular A4 bumper.
