Another Take on Audi's A7 Coupe | « » 1:22 AM 2/6/2007 | |
|
Today we feature another independent designer, this time a CG and video game designer with a love for Audis and a regular on these forums. Gabriel RABHI is the same person who painstakingly "closed the open door" on the original A5 spy photo we ran. He also grafted a more production-looking nose on the front of the car. Today, his focus is a CG of the rumored A7 four-door coupe. Read the whole article on the A7 design here.... http://www.fourtitude.com/news...shtml You can also view some of his photoshop work here... http://www.fourtitude.com/gall...Rabhi

That's one ugly looking concept. I hope the A7 doesn't look like that. The lines on that car are all Hyndai and not Audi.

I like the shorter front overhang and the incorporation of the rear door handles into the C-pillars. The latter is a nice touch.

These renderings seem to have a strong Bangle influence that I would not expect to see in an Audi.

i hope everyone that posted actually took the time to read the article.this guy isn't a car designer by any means, but he is using this method to progress his career in computer graphics and rendering. to me it is quite impressive, and maybe its not total Audi design, it is cool to see people using Audi instead of other makes to do stuff like this.

I love Aud's sharp & crisp lines down the side of their cars. That's why they're the best looking cars on the road today. The frumpy and overly curvey styling doesn't look good in that design concept. Just my opinion of course.

Nice CAD skills, but personally I find the concept to be less attractive than I would hope. Maybe if I find time I could do some Prismacolor renderings and make it go more with Audi's overall style of design.

While I am sure Audi can do a better job, this is very good for someone that isn't working in the auto business. I like it.

Actually I think that's very impressive for someone who is not a professional auto designer. Overall the design is pretty cohesive... the headlights maybe a bit droopy and the rear needs a little refining, but the profile and shoulder line are quite nice (and yes, the A5 will have a similar shoulder line).Gabriel, what software did you use to create and render the 3D images?

Hi,I'm globally agree with your advices... But this model is only a modelling trainning to learn the high precision modelling and car rendering. There is no real design work behind this. I have used Auto Studio (Alias Studio Tools) for modelling, and Maya with Mental Ray for rendering. For my next project (second one), the A1, I will use HDRi rendering technics to have a more reallistic rendering. And this car will be the result of a real design work. Regards, Gabriel

Personally, I like the looks of it. I would like to see the belt line be a little higher (more in keeping with the 4 door "coupe" phenomenon,) make the wheel bulges larger, and tone down the sweeping line on the profile. I really like what you've done with the front and rear fascias, and the proportions are excellent. Overall I think it looks great. Good job.

for some reason, all I can think when I see this car (from many angles, not all) is 330i.
