 Driven: 2007 A3 3.2 S-line« »

Since our first drive of the A3 3.2 roughly one year ago, changes to Audi’s smallest offering have been kept to a minimum. Some package differences were made - the DSG transmission re-dubbed “S-tronic” though largely it’s an unchanged car. Why then, after spending a week in a 2007 example would we go out on a limb in saying the car could have been badged S3 and few would have been the wiser? At the end of the day, such an impression by our staff is purely based on an improved impression, of which our much-more-charismatic 2007 example has in spades. Unfortunately, it’s also got a heavyweight price point to go with that improved demeanor.

the one gripe i have with that car is the interior colors and for the simple fact that from the distance that photo is taken, you'd have to look for details to determine that isnt the interior of my old 2001 golf.

Great review George

I will get Q one of these days, I couldn't see the extra cost, and I live in Phoenix, the 2.0T is a capable partner in the delight of being an A3 owner.

Awesome review, perfect photos: thanks again for a great article

I love the light grey interior, and that is what I ordered for mine. Piano black trim does suit it better than the "aluminum" stuff imo.

If they offered this car in a manual, I'd have bought it instead of my 2.0T. Sorry, but part of the entertainment of driving my car is changing the gears myself, regardless of how good the DSG transmission may be. I wish Audi could understand this.

I think the comparisons to the old S4 in that article are spot on. I had an '01 S4 that I loved. To me it was the ultimate car - good performance, all wheel drive, good cargo capacity, and carry 4 people in luxury. When it was getting a little old, I went for the A3 3.2 in red w/ most of the options. It's basically the same car (a little more cabin space, a little less cargo space) but the the A3 has more options (nav, bluetooth, open sky, etc) for the same price, feels better in the corners than my S4 did, and get's better MPG. All in all, no regrets what so ever..

2007 A3 3.2 - Brilliant red, nav, open sky, xenon, cold weather, 18" wheels.

Thanks guys.

I love the grey interior, but what I'd really love to see is the lighter "silver" leather offered in the S4, with black carpeting like the S4. That color combo looks awesome IMHO, though I certainly wouldn't kick this one out of bed for eating crackers.

My other request would be Carbonfiber trim. I don't think I've seen an OEM application of Carbonfiber in this car yet, though I know Oettinger offers something.
