Revo Question | « » 11:46 AM 5/16/2006 | |
|
Yesterday I had my A3 2.0T chipped with Revo. While I've only driven the car about 15 miles, I have not noticed as big a difference in power and torque as I anticipated. While it did not feel noticebly faster, it did feel like the torque was being deliverd more smoothly. I was expecting to have issues with increased wheel hop, but it had less. The install took a little over and hour. Revo's web site says it takes 10 minutes. The tech said the download rate is very slow and the 2.0 FSI cars he does takes longer. He also owns a A3 2.0. Am I missing something, or is the Revo just so much smoother than stock the difference is that subtle. With a supposed increase of 65 Hp and 97 lbs of torque, I expected more of a rush. He set it for the 92 octane we have in Portland, Oregon. I'll call him later this moring once he get into the shop and see what he says.

The flash should take only 8 minutes. The ME9 can be flashed much quicker than the old ME7 ECU which took ~20 minutes. REVO is dead linear and smooth. Not as much of a torque spike down low but the power doesn't drop off either. The car will only get stronger as you put on more miles to allow it to adapt. When you call him, ask him what he set Timing, Boost and Fueling at. Haven't heard of 92 specific settings, only 91 and 93. I think from this latest dyno on a mustang, you won't be disappointed with it.

I just spoke with the tuner. He said he set the timing at 2 for the 92 Octane, and the boost is set at the default 6, and the fueling is whatever the program sets it at. He also said it takes a few cold starts before the programs totally sets itself. And, that if I get the select switch, it will put it at either 91 or 98 octane, or back to stock. If I want the 92 octane setting, I'd just have to stop by the shop if I have to switch it to stock for any audi service intervals.

No offsense to your tuner, but it sounds as if he might have set the timing a bit low. 91 octane settings for REVO (as recommended by REVO) are: Boost: 5 Timing: 3 Fueling: 9 93 octane settings: Boost: 7 (or 8) Timing: 5 Fueling: 9 I would think that 92 octane would be somewhere inbetween the 91 and 93 octane settings. Then again, he could be adjusting for regional differences (altitude, type of gas & etc) Also, with regards to SPS-select, I was under the impression that you could choose which two octane programs you received (tuner sets them for you). He said he set the timing at 2 because of the poor quality of gas we have in the area. He did not recommend setting it higher than 3 before you start banging into the knock sensor. I think I'll drive it for a while and let it settle in. Then have him try a 3. It would be great to feel all this program has to offer. Crew, thanks for the info!

just be patient and let the program set itself after acouple of hours of stop and go driving. it really only does take about 10 mins but it seems as if your revo dealer was being courteous and making sure the settings were right. my dealer spent a lot of time with me to set my program at its full potential. after flashing it, he rode with me to ensure that all the flash was stable. it took about 3 runs in the car to finally perfect the program. the first test run, the car ran great but he said the computer log showed that i could make it a bit more aggressive. did another run and said my car is adapting to it fine and i gave him the word to adjust it once again and i finally set the limit. ive had the flash for over 2000 miles and i have had NO MISFIRES or any other mechanical failures. im sure you will be happy with it once the program finally sets in. sorry for rambling on, i just wanted to help you with your question
