Autumn is coming. The leaves are starting to turn and the morning air is crisp. With this change in season, the year of quattro’s 25th Anniversary enters into its twilight. 25 years ago, the first quattro products powered onto the scene and Audi will cap the celebratory year off with the delivery of 250 special ‘25quattro’ edition S4s like the one seen here.

For now, the 25quattro tested is the only one in the country. Audi had a prototype built for its debut at the Quail event during Monterey’s legendary automotive gathering in August. Up until now, the only photos of this car have been relatively unclear of the car’s detail. So here’s a closer look, a virtual walk-around for those considering this limited edition S-car.

The grille is painted Audi's new black color, just to differentiate a bit more. Painting your own grille would net a similar result. I liked the look.

It should be available from dealers once the cars start to arrive, possibly in November.

Audi has 5 ports in the US and the S425q's are coming in 5 different batches. West coast cars have arrived, while very few east coast cars have arrived.

Release to dealers is now scheduled the week of Nov. 14.

George - Since you have the inside line, why are the 25quattros being held at port?

Keep your eyes open. It's being considered.

The ring stickers for optional customer use arrived from Germany and were placed in the cars on
Friday. It may sound trivial, but it was an advertised detail, so shipping them without decals wouldn't have been prudent.

The cars are being released upon notice from the ports this week. It's possible they could make dealers before week's end.
