Brian approached us about doing a project vehicle on the A3. The growth of this forum has proven to us that we need to have at the very least one (yes, that's a veiled hint at the future) A3 project car. We know Brian builds nice cars, and we know he's not afraid to mod. He's got some talented photographers out there with William Westfall and Nicol Wheatcroft who have generously agreed to support his contributions, so we have a lot of confidence that the car will be moving along strongly and in a direction that's good for all of us.... and hopefully we can all enjoy following them.

I've spoken at great length to Brian about this project. I know he has some really cool plans, and I know he's a very active member of this forum. In as much, I've asked him two things, one that serves the site, one that serves you guys. For me, I asked him to try to keep from posting about something until we report on it and have promised immediate (within a few days at most) production on any article he submits. Since his energy is not surprisingly bubbling over on the project, I've asked (for you guys) that he do no more teasers. Anticipation kills me, and I'm assuming it kills you guys too. So there you go, he's patiently agreed to both. Thanks Brian.

Rest assured, there'll be no year long hiatuses like my own A4 Avant project. Brian's on it, and we're committed to reporting as soon as he does. Fair enough?

Anyway, check out the article by Bri and the great pics by William and we hope to have a new update very very shortly. Bri has already ordered parts and their en route as you read this.

SO GLAD to finally see the car up there. nice "editing" job too

for those that read this, i am also VR6 NRG here on the forum and have been in talks with George and the guys for a while now as some heard. Well its all offical now. and we want to take you guys/gals along for a great ride as we build up this car.

hopefully have some stuff done to the car before Dubfest on the 18th.

i feel they really show the murano green nicely, along with a full coat of polish and wax done to the car by the trusty dual action polisher i have. Meguiars is some good stuff.

Actually they did a psychological study on why people choose certain colours, and green happened to be a sign of great intellect. Hence why there aren't alot of green cars on the road, and when your stuck in traffic you feel your surrounded by idiots. (J/K)

In seriousness though, looking forward to reading the upcoming articles, as it has been fun with my current cars community (Tiburon) where everyone and their uncle DIDN'T own one so you could follow different project cars easily.

Still contiplating a A3 2.0T in my future and would be sold right now, leave work hop in my car goto Audi dealership, if Audi offered Quattro for it.

Keep an eye on http://www.ngpracing.com . They want to try to convert a 2.0T to quattro. If they are successful, we'll surely cover it.

I think that's cool. I like the idea of something unique (also the guy a post or two before with [power?] folding mirrors) that isn't a "Hey, look what I ordered online and installed by myself with the instructions."

If this car has interesting, functional bits on it that were not bought off the shelf, I will be very excited.

I hope some of these things come about....

I take it you mean suggestions of cool toys for the A3 to investigate?

One thing that I have been reading a lot about on the boards is the DSG transmission which I am happy that the project car has gotten. Definately something on the durability and amount of power it can handle would be awesome. If need be what options for the serious tuner in mind.

I brought this debate up on a different forum (www.newtiburon.com) because it was a transmission that will likely start seeing more and more in the mainstream as other car manufactures catch up to Audi, BMW, since for the longest you needed a Ferrari or Porsche to play with the paddles, and shift at speeds only seen in F1 cars (though 1/10th of a second isn't as fast as F1's 1/100th of a second its still faster then a traditional automatic or any human).

The only negative on DSG was 'I hate paddles' or 'I prefer manual...' no reason to back it up.

Other then that and definately keeping an eye everywhere on is the Quattro for the 2.0T to create the ultimate tuner car (for North America that is).

we've got some pretty cool ideas up our sleeves as far as the look of the car and kit(s)

Chris, "ecode" is a term for used for the type of beam pattern the bulb emits, wherein the right side of the road is lit more brightly (via a diagonal beam pattern) than the left side. The intention is to light the right side of the road better for pedestrians, road edge, street signs, etc. while limiting the left side brightness so as to not blind oncoming traffic.

It will be interesting to see if you get bi-xenons. Good Luck!

Last I was told, I was expecting an Oct. 3 delivery date (a good 4 month wait from when I put my order in.) Then, last week, I go to the ER and get admitted into the hospital, when I emerge (assumingly better than before...we'll see) I have a message from the dealer saying my car will be here Sept. 12!!!!!

Almost makes up for the painful surgery.
