Body kits can be a double-edged sword. From the enthusiast standpoint, they can make a car look much more aggressive and really set it apart from the crowd. From the non-enthusiast side, they can make a car more difficult to park around curbs and equally difficult to move upon resale. With subtlety preferred but the black trimmed bumpers of our 2002 A4 Avant staring me in the face, it seemed to me that going with the OEM S4 body kit was the way to go.

can you give me some info on the s4 flares... how much, and where'd you get them. Also the s4 rear bumper.

The guy tells you to leave the old bumpers there at his bodyshop so you don't get your car dirty, then throws them out before you come to pick them up? That's a pretty big cost as well if you ever wanted to return the car back to it's original state. Sounds fishy, I bet somebody got a cheap deal for a replacement bumper for their fender bender.

Nah, I doubt it. First, you'd need a guy with an Avant in the same color to wanna buy them. Second, it's a high traffic dealership body shop. They don't have used parts laying around, nor do they have much storage space. It took me about three weeks to call back, and I know the guys at Autohaus pretty well. I REALLY HIGHLY doubt they'd do something like that. I'm sure it was probably just one of his shop hands cleaning up and tossing them. It stinks, but what can you do? They're gone, and it's not like I need them, so I'm not going to stick it to Autohaus for new ones I'm not even going to use.

Follow the link in my post above, I listed all parts for the conversion in the article, BUT bear in mind they are for an Avant. You might want to re-check if you have a sedan. If you want current pricing (again, it took me about a year to publish this article, I'm lame, I know), call your local dealer and ask. If you have a wholesale account with them, you might do a little better. Either way, it's not cheap, but I like the look. I'm glad I did it.

I got all of my parts through the dealership, including the rear upper spoiler. The grille is an OEM piece, but it's not sold through U.S. dealerships. I got that from PG Performance.

I'll see if I can dig up the original list I got. That's as descriptive as my invoice from Autohaus got, and that's what I used when I wrote the article. If I can't find that first list, I'll try to stop by the dealership and itemize it better.

just some shots of the s4 rear... i want to see the way the grey valence part looks, all i have in my mind is the votex rear...

but thats not what i want.
