With a top speed of 100 km/h the W 25 will take off at what is probably the fastest classic car rally in the world. Celebrating 25 years of quattro will clearly be the motto of Audi’s presence at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the South of England from 24 to 26 June. Along with other cars from the Audi rally era, Audi Tradition will present the Audi Sport quattro S1 “Pikes Peak” in West Sussex, the car with which Walter Röhrl became the first person ever to forge up the 4,000-metre-high mountain in under eleven minutes. Also on show: the Audi A4 Super Touring Car which won seven national titles in 1996, including the Super Touring Car Championships in Germany and England. “25 years of quattro” is also the motto of the Techno Classica which is the regular opening to the season and takes place from 7 to 10 April. quattro fans can look forward to meeting in Ingolstadt from 5 to 7 August. Over 1,000 historic quattro vehicles and their owners are expected at the Audi Forum Ingolstadt. The programme includes appearances by quattro racing cars down through the ages.
The Wanderer Streamline Special will be present at three events in the course of 2005. This racing car with which Auto Union won the team title in 1939 in what was then considered the most difficult rally in the world – the Liège-Rome-Liège run – was reconstructed in 2003 and made its much acclaimed debut in the historic revival of the Liège-Rome run. This year the streamlined aluminium racing car will shine with its presence at the Bavaria Historic (26 to 28 May), at the Gran Premio Nuvolari in Italy (16 to 18 September) and also at the Hamburg Stadtpark race from 2 to 4 September. Audi Tradition will also be participating at events in the far north of Germany for the first time. In 1939 Schorsch Meier performed a demonstration lap in an Auto Union Type D racing car, paving the way for the citizens of Hamburg to look forward to seeing this unique racing car at its only appearance in 2005 on an historical course 66 years later.
Audi Tradition is also present at the Heidelberg Historic (7 to 9 July), the Silvretta Classic (7 to 10 July), the Ennstal Classic (20 to 23 July), the Saxony Classic (22 to 24 September) and at the 25th International NSU Meeting in Borluco in the Netherlands from 5 to 8 May. The Audi Tradition events year will close with the 12th Model Car Exchange in Ingolstadt on 27 November, which in the meantime has developed into one of the largest exchanges in Germany.
The four rings of the Audi badge symbolise the brands Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer, which were later combined under the umbrella of Auto Union. Auto Union and NSU, which merged in 1969, made many significant contributions towards the development of the car. AUDI AG was formed from Audi NSU Auto Union AG in 1985. Together with the two traditional companies Auto Union GmbH and NSU GmbH, Audi Tradition nurtures and presents the deep and diverse history of Audi. The Audi museum mobile at the Audi Forum Ingolstadt is open from Monday to Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
