Will a diverter valve work the same on both motors? Install wise and what not? Some people are telling me they are different but I'm wondering if this is true...

Re: TSI VS. TFSI (Long Live the MK3.)

Forge's website lists two options, up to 2007 and 2008+ (presumably FSI and TSI, although the FSI was still present in many 08 models). Try shooting them an email and ask if it will work, they're usually quick to respond.

What IS the difference between the TSI and FSI...and is TFSI a misnomer?

Some major differences from the FSI to TSI include:
- chain driven belt
- fuel/engine management
- components in the intake system
- oil filter and oil dipstick relocated
- improved PCV system (proved to be problematic in the FSI)
- compression ratio lowered to 9.6:1
- more balanced cam shafts in the center of the block on both sides
- down pipe
- fuel efficiency (debatable)
- better emissions
- more 02 sensors on exhaust system

so the FSI was the first gen direct injection engine made by vw/audi
there are some issues with this engine like the flat tappet follower....
the FSI is belt driven
The TSI (TFSI in the audi world) is the 2nd gen direct injection engine,
its completely different block and head, it uses a roller cam follower, its chain driven. etc...
so
FSI First Gen
TSI/TFSI Second Gen

Sweet info guys, thanks. And the changeover was sometime mid-'08?

IIRC it was the 08.5 on both the GTI's and A3's
