BBC America air date is March 13th

      via The List
'Top Gear' will return to screens in less than three weeks' time.

BBC Two bosses have confirmed the popular motoring show will make its long-awaited return to the channel on March 5 with a new line-up featuring Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid following the shock departure of main host Chris Evans, 35, last year.

The news was announced on the series' official Twitter account on Tuesday (14.02.17) alongside a photo of the presenting trio surrounded by flash fast cars and a helicopter.

The tweet read: "Confirmed: all new #TopGear launches Sunday 5 March. See you there (sic)."

Producers are hoping the new presenting line-up will give its rival 'The Grand Tour', which is hosted by 'Top Gear's former team Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, a run for its money after the Amazon series only managed to bring in 2.3 million UK viewers last year.

And Matt - who is known for his role in 'Friends' - Chris and Rory should have no trouble putting on a good show as they certainly have plenty on experience after they were brought on board the series last year in order to support Chris before he walked out over the fan backlash he received.

Patrick Holland, editor at BBC Two, told the Daily Star newspaper: "I am thrilled that Matt LeBlanc is returning to 'Top Gear'. He's a huge talent whose love of cars is infectious. I can't wait for the series to return to BBC Two."

And, in a subtle dig at Chris - who walked out just one year into his three-year contract - bosses have decided to wipe all traces of him by ditching the drastic changes he made last year.

The Star in a Rallycross Car segment, which the radio DJ introduced when he took over the hosting duties from Jeremy, James and Richard, has been scrapped, while his beloved Mini Cooper has been replaced with a Toyota GT86 for celebrities to whiz around in.

A source explained to The Sun newspaper: "The GT86 is brilliant to drive but also risky. This time the celebs will be taught by both Chris Harris and The Stig so they will be in safe hands."

Promising. Harris posted his first Instagram photo in what seems like months. Stating "I've been busy filming..."

Still looks like a collection of "Dad jokes" and awkward timing to me.
      I unbanned Patrikman.

I also originally banned Zuk & JIMP.

      You're all welcome.

This would be a nice complement to TGT. I like this trio.

I think this is great news. Now that TGT is more entertainment than cars, these guys (who are plenty entertaining and credible) can focus on really delivering a CAR show.

      I can't wait.

Good choices. The massive cast was absurd. This has real potential.

i wouldnt mind seeing her back, but i think she needs to be a guest announcer/driver for certain portions, i dont think she is as good as these 3 in front of the camera/being part of the 'main' cast.

She's got personality in spades over Harris, he just comes off as a pompous ****. They should get rid of the STIG and just shuffle him to that spot; That means handing it over to our resident elitist, some say space time is fractured every every time he forces a smile and that he'd spend more on hoodies than he would a hybrid, all we know is he's called Chris Harris!

I *really* like Sabine, but I think she would be better served as almost a comic foil to the cast rather than a regular host.

This cast IMO has much more promise than the stupid and bloated cast before.

It really boggles my mind what the producers were thinking when they did that cast. People liked Top gear before because of banter and wit of the cast. The topic was somewhat irrelevant.

They've done what needed to be done with the cast. Now they have to reinvent the show in their own image, just like Clarkson did. It may not be as big but it can be every bit as good.

And I would argue that it doesn't HAVE to beat TGT. It just has to be TGUK that we all know and love:

      1. Primary focus on cars.
      2. Lots of comedic banter
      3. Awe inspiring reviews of great cars with great photography and action shots
      4. Occasional humor segments like the TG challenges
      5. Some new material, but focus on cars.

TGT has gone for flash-bang and entertainment that happens to be about cars. TG can be a pure car show, and that's what it should be.

If you want to know what I am thinking of, here's what I feel is the textbook "new" Top Gear - the 911R review:

Definitely a better, more streamlined cast. Looking fwd to seeing this season.

Never a fan of Sabine's awkward presence, but no doubt she can drive the wheels off anything.

I see no mention of Eddie Jordan. That's a good thing.

With him, I think last season was too much of a case of "Hey everybody! Look, it's your favourite eccentric Irish uncle - you know, the one who used to run a Formula 1 team - what's he going to say or do next? Isn't he craaaaazy?" by the producers. Trying to fill a presenting team character niche that didn't need filling.
