APR Plus is for suckers who can't say no to the finance guy and all his dealer addons.
So the misinformation here is pretty bad.

The APR Plus provides a wrap-around warranty that covers any issue that your stock warranty will not regarding the engine. That's the whole benefit of APRplus. You get less of a power increase, but you can finance it with your car and you still have an engine warranty.

Also, most other VW cars get pretty large increases from APRplus. I don't know why the GOlf R is limited so much -- it might have something to do with preserving the drivetrain or something.

And for the other confused people, APRplus is a "lower" stage than APR Stage 1. THing of it as a dealer-installed "stage zero" that comes with a warranty.

...well, since your warranty isn't void (since it's covered one way or another), it's an important piece imo.

The factory drivetrain warranty is void. Why do you think APR has to have it covered by a third party?

Sorry, but an extra 25hp for $1000 is not worth losing your factory warranty and having to deal with a 3rd party.

100%, but if it's covered by APR (or third party), not vw, it's still covered.

I don't get this tangent on tuning the Atlas. Ha! The vast majority of buyers will never do that, they won't even entertain the idea FFS. For the three row buying segment, price, features and mpg rule. Performance is the realm of the Lux SUV segment. And with that in mind, I think VW has a shot here. The Atlas will sink or swim based on those metrics above against the best SUVs in the class.

Yeah I just priced out a Highlander, nicely optioned they are low 40s MSRP, with killer resale.

I am buying this year and at one point the Highlander was at the top of the list. It has a fantastic price, great reliability and the resale is nuts. it sure underwhelms when you drive it and sit in though...

It dropped all the way off the list after spending 30 minutes in it.

I bet. I'd rather just get a 4Runner, but I understand the differences and market.

The more I look at these pictures, Honda and VW should just do a nose-swap between the Ridgeline and the Atlas.

I saw an Atlas on I-75 in Atlanta this weekend. Actually looked pretty nice, like a VW Grand Cherokee.

Yes, I understand manufacturing constraints, but they could essentially share most of the same components.

      I guess I'd just love to see a 6 with a straight 6.

Crazy to think the New Beetle is now so old that kids conceived in them are now capable of driving cars. I remember seeing a NB in The 6th Day (2000) which was beat up/weathered because it took place in the future (2015) and the car would have been old by then.

That was the original No.1 for me, and I still really like it. That said, the wife didn't like it at all and she will be the one driving it. We are old school and both are happy to be old school. As such, she will leave the decision to me, but I don't have the heart to get her something she doesn't like. I've had 3 new cars and a used car since she got her last car (a used Honda Odysee). The kicker is that I still have 3 out of the 4 cars that I've purchased since I got her the van. She accepts my hobby, but that doesn't mean that she should drive something she doesn't like.

I suggested 9 different cars for her to look at and she has narrowed it down to these:
      1. Audi Allroad
      2. Audi Q5 mk2
      3. VW Atlas

The Atlas is bigger than I want, but we will wait to see how it and the Q5 do in person. Either way, I would be happy to have her in either one of these

Ask the owners of Stasis-tuned cars how things are with the 3rd party coverage. Didn't APR go insolvent once already in the last few years?
