watched every episode, while some were pretty bad, I quite enjoy the show, I didn't care for Adam too much after season 1, but he really grew on me, you have to respect Tanner's driving ability, and who doesn't like Rut? lol

Watching this year's TGUS and TGUK, you could really see how it takes a couple of years for a hosting team to gel.

During the TGUS episode in the snow of Steamboat I noticed how much fun they were having and were ad libbing most of the dialogue. Yeah parts of it scripted - of course Rut was going to fall from the sled - but they were having fun.

    6. 06-28-2016 08:00 AM #55
I blame it on Rut not posting on here any longer. He used to give us a heads-up when the new episodes would start.

Therefore the show failed since us Car Loungers weren't sitting on our barcaloungers in front of our TV's to watch the show. Shame on you, Rutledge!

I also didn't like it much the 1st season. But they started hitting their stride after that. I really found it to be a fun show to watch most times. And Tanner can flat out drive.

Definitely hope some network who needs some relatively cheap programming will pick this show up.

I enjoyed watching the show, though I didn't catch every episode. Once the guys gelled and started hitting their stride, it was a fun show to have on.

At least it would be something different. I really enjoy car restoration programs on Velocity but these four (to me) aren't worth watching or at least are less than TGUS.
I agree that Velocity should pick it up. Geez, how much can the TV market bear those repetitious "buy, restore, sell" or restoration shows? If you've seen one or two, you've seen them all, it seems. The only one that I try to catch is Wheeler Dealers. Oh, and All Girls Garage. Because bewbs. But I can keep the sound turned off.

That's too bad, the show was just starting to find its sweet spot and it was definitely better than the revamped UK one. I guess we have The Grand Tour to look forward to now

      Top Gear USA is back!

      http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...version-987149

Except this time, it's with three new hosts, and airs on BBC America instead of History

A previous stateside iteration of the venerable U.K. talker ran on History for six seasons.

Top Gear is getting another makeover with an American audience in mind — this time, at the same network that airs the British original.

BBC America has ordered an eight-episode season of Top Gear America. Set to debut later in 2017, it will join the U.K. version of the car-centric talk show (and its revamped presenter lineup) on the anglophile-friendly lineup. On board for hosting this iteration are actor William Fichtner (Prison Break, The Dark Knight, Armageddon), champion drag racer Antron Brown and British car journalist Tom “Wookie” Ford. The order is very much in line with BBC America's strategy of putting a personal stamp on British pop culture.

"We are big fans of the mix of cars, credibility and charisma that adds up to the winning formula for Top Gear, and couldn't be happier that BBCA is now the home for the franchise in the US, with Top Gear America joining the original show on our network," said network president and GM Sarah Barnett. "Bill, Antron and Wookie are serious gear heads who never take themselves too seriously. It will be quite the trip."

This is the third stateside version of Top Gear. History enjoyed moderate success with one, which ended its six-season run in 2016. Prior to that, NBC ordered a high-profile broadcast stab in 2008 before ultimately nixing plans.

Like the History version, BBC America's take will again be produced by U.K. distributor (and BBC America corporate parent) BBC Worldwide. (The company has a majority stake in the network, though co-parent AMC Networks has the most creative involvement in operations.)

William Fichtner seems an odd choice...... Tom Ford use to present on Fifth Gear and currently writes for the top gear magazine, so he'll be useful. Should've just brought the original three guys back.

Starting to hate all the History channel, Discovery, etc shows, 20 min of material with 10 mins of commercials. Every time they come back from a commercial they have to give you a 30 sec update about what you just watched before the commercial came on. Seriously ????

I've noticed that trend on a lot of programs. Makes me think they didn't have enough footage, and tried to stretch it to a 60 min slot.

      What happened last episode

We just watched the Six miniseries on History. They actually showed very little commercials during it, maybe because it was just a mini-series though.

They also dropped F-bombs left and right!

I've never had cable and I recently got Hulu. I've been sick for the past few days so I started watching TGUS. It's fun so far (I'm in season 3) and I didn't know it was off the air until this thread got bumped. LOL. I look forward to watching the new one when it's streamable in five years.

It's too bad Rut/Tanner/Adam didn't get the ratings necessary cuz they really gelled & worked well together; this bizarro trio... what? why?

ugh, yes (HGTV is horrifically guilty of this, too).

now having The Grand Tour AND the "real" Top Gear returning to form, this seems completely unnecessary.

100% I thought after the 1st season, they really got into the groove and TG USA was top notch quality entertainment. I was laughing and enjoying their antics as much as the OG TG UK to be honest.

Remember BBC America - USA market/version of BBC

As for William Fichtner - not a fan at all.... seriously a WTF decision if you ask me.

I'm not even going to give this a shot. TGUS got me to watch on the strength of Tanner & Rutledge (I've never been a fan of Adam, on this or anything else), none of these new three have the draw to get me to watch.
