Why a kia? My wife and I chose the Optima over the A4. She could have had anything she wanted. Chose the Optima. In fact, after 78,000 miles of just oil changes, brakes and tires, we are finding that it is tough to replace for the value, comfort, features, and warranty that you get elsewhere. No regrets at all will do over and over again if we were given the choice and very well may consider it within the next few months I could only imagine the nightmare that the A4 would have been maintenance wise.

Have not read any previous replies, but I have owned multiple Kias (starting with a 100 dollar Ford Aspire of all things) and every single one of them has been dead reliable.

Traded the last one, a 2003 Optima a couple of years ago. It was still going strong with well over 200k on the odo, I think around 250-260 IIRC. The only non-scheduled repair was an alternator replacement at around 230k. The Aspire and a 2006 Spectra5 were also completely reliable. The
Aspire was even fun to drive. Since it's limits were so ridiculously pathetic I would hit them constantly! Damn thing for 46MPG no matter how I drove it.

Also, would by another in an instant. Might look at the Sedona vans when we replace the Caravan in a year.

Bought my wife's Sorento V6 because she wanted an SUV with 3 rows that wasn't ugly as hell or Tahoeburban in size. It fit the bill perfect, and being able to get a panoramic sunroof, heated/cooled leather seats, nav, and Infinity sound while hovering just over the 30k mark just made $$ sense. The terrific V6 is just an added bonus in my eyes...

Oh and 27-30 mpg in a V6 three row SUV helps too..

They would have to make something interesting that is not the Veloster or the Genesis Coupe.

I'd buy a Kia in a heartbeat. However, the model I want isn't available in the US.

I find this thread funny since I currently live in Korea. Obviously, the amount of Kia's and Hyundai's here is absolutely astounding. Even Samsung makes a car here. Having sat in many Kia taxis at this point, K5s (US equivalent Optima) and K7s, they've come an extremely long way.

So my answer to your question, when in Korea, you'd most likely buy a Kia over anything else. 😉

If you buy a K900 you get a car with far more features than similarly priced cars from larger brands but will be worth $4 and some pocket lint in a year.

So lets assume you bought a Kia, why did you buy it? how did you justify that purchase vs another comparable car in regards to price, availability, and features?

This is a serious question, please keep the insulting remarks to yourself. If you own a Kia and I just made you feel offended, please realize that is not my intention and you're actually the perfect person to be answering the question.

I'd rock one of these, too bad they don't sell them here... could be a decent GTI competitor.

My wife's 2011 Optima SX and 2016 Sorento SX are fantastic. They're every bit as nice as the Infinitis and Audis we've had.

OP, I highly recommend you go drive one and I think you'll have answered your own question.

The 5-door, I was hoping it would come as our Forte hatch when it was released.

I honestly would never own one if there are other options, but if they where the only car brand in existence then I would have no choice. I will always opt to buy a used car before I buy a new Kia, Hyundai, Scion, or any other brand like them

I'd buy way used before I'd buy a new Kia. A cheap Hyundai doesn't strike me as a deal any way you slice it. I do appreciate the new styling language they have going on, but looks aren't enough for me.

Plus, I cockerpunked out and will probably stay RWD for myself and AWD for the wife. /snowflake enthusiast
