Being you're not doing a "conventional" restoration, would you have any interest in parting with the front turn signals?

They're both factory, I'd be interested in the smooth. The ones on the black 2002, I've two sets of the US, so a swap plus cash, possibly?

small update. put a racing seat in it and my boss decided to teach us how to drive properly (he used to race porsche 914's). biggest thing is getting over the mind game of taking the turn at what feels like way to fast

and me did alot better the next day.

Love the progression of clean cornering, little crazy, then off the road.

Well, at least you didn't nail the brakes!

It would've been a good time to have just a wee bit more power, though.

      Awesome! Love the clips.

You can throw '02's around more than I can throw my E9 around, but there's a certain patience required with old cars in general. Slow steer it in, get it leaning and set, then add power, and back steering out. Get it wrong and it gets all kinds of bad pretty fast.

the next day after we got the secondarys working i was getting some pretty consistent slides where the back left would dip into the dirt a bit. over rotated a couple times and apparantly when i locked the brakes up the back tires came off the ground i was getting the inside wheel to lift a few inches on most of my attempts

      Speaking of dirt...
I was picking up a good MD friend of mine from JFK yesterday. He was wearing a full suit and was coming back from some Anesthesiology conference in Boston. We got lost around airport service roads and I needed to bust a quick U in my rwd pickup.
So i went full Shomegrown and fishtailed through a giant patch of dirt shoulder. I forgot that we had posh Tumi Luggage in the truck bed. Had to buy lunch

How in the hell did you score a pair of 45 DCOE carbs for free?

They're a bit big, but I'd just get a wilder cam and shorter gears to help compensate (unless you can trade them for a pair of 40s).

      That's a killer score, man. I that.

have a bigger cam from my buddies head with upgraded valve springs. hes gonna make me a custom manifold from the stock manifold and then were gonna build up a different head with the cam and springs. spent 40 long hours behind the wheel of a 94 gmc dually and my boss told the guy (we know very well and were restoring this prototype along with another car for him) that he wanted the spare carbs as a tip for me. he didnt need them since he was going back to fuel inj. they need all the linkage pieces and a rebuild but they were set up as spares for a hardcore race motor

Now you need a Tii brake booster to make those Webers fit. They will not clear over a stock booster.

I have carb envy. My 32/36 DGAV down drafts are pretty pinner by comparison.

Sounds good! Dump some excess weight if you can, as that'll help disguise the loss of low-end torque that you'll have. Don't sweat it, as the top end will more than compensate! If it's a daily driver I wouldn't recommend it, but for a car like this? I could live with a boggy bottom end to make it scream!
