Whoa!! I don't think I'd have ever thought of that but I have two questions...

      1) Did you have an even number of cleats so you didn't have "double" at the end?

      2) Did they balance okay or have you gotten that far?

1, yup. perfect # all the way around

2, dont care about balance since they will only be run offroad only.

reason im doing it is the guy who won the whole even last time was running tires like this and he was flying through the mud. granted he had a FWD celica but the tires were free so its worth a shot.

day one completed! my morning runs were so good, the course had so much traction and the snow tires were hooking extremely well. night runs got a bit crazy as the ground turned hard packed and my rally tires gave me no grip. i was doing clutch kicks just to try and get around turns

kicked the corvair out and got the 2002 in the garage. planned to do front brakes, header and transmission swap. but i found out for some reason all my late 2002's had early transmission in them which use a different slave cylinder and clutch fork. and the trans i picked up was a late trans. so only got to do the header and brakes today. so no more exhaust leak and hopefully no more wheels wobbling from warped rotors.

also turns out at the rallyx that my friend co drove with me we ended up tearing the base plate welds off the e brake

Those stupid baseplate welds on the hand brake suuuuuck. Broke it on my E9 right before Legends last year, and I had to chalk a wheel to make sure the car didn't roll away. I was nervous all day.

Meh, a little patch and you'll be on your way. Not like it has to look pretty for the concours.

First time I checked in to this thread. My buddy just picked up a 74 tii and his birthday is coming up. Any suggestions for a gift? He's a huge BMW fanatic (has an E30 and e90 too).

Something 2002 related would be perfect.

      A Tii, eh? Nice.

How about a gift card from Bavarian Autosport or some other BMW supplier?

Not a bad idea. Not as personal, but something to consider. I was thinking of getting him some original owner's manuals but he's already ordered them!

autox saturday. replaced my broken, then rewelded and then cracked front subframe and replaced the worn out rear condor solid suspensions bushings with new ones. also did my first drive on the new slicks and new ish (read: no more play in the cv joints) axles and it tells me i need a real lsd badly. before on the old worn out cv joints it gave the welded dif a slight lsd feel by giving a bit of slop. now there is no slop and it twists the chassis really hard.
