This one has been for sale for a few months and I finally got off my ass and sold some parts to put it in the budget. 2009 with about 15,000 miles and two owners. Never really talked to the current owner much before but he is a friend of many mutual friends and fellow crazy autocrosser. It's effectively staying in the family. Weather is looking like it could be decent for the 400 mile ride home.

I'd love to try a Speed or Street Triple, but prices on them seem weird - I've seen bikes a decade apart in age priced almost identically. That gives me pause, making me wonder what I don't know. I'll probably wind up on a Monster.

I've noticed the same thing, they don't really get cheap. This one is an 09 with 15k on it and a few small upgrades, paid $6000.

Got the bike home after a very, very long ride. It was raining and in the low 50s for the first 200 miles and it got noticeably colder at the tops of the mountains. Went through three pairs of socks trying to keep warm. After that, the last 200 miles were a breeze. Unfortunately my phone only made it about 80 miles before it decided to have enough. Pretty sure the battery is fried as the rice trick did not work and it's not taking a charge. Anyway, the bike is everything I hoped it would be. Power absolutely everywhere without ever being overwhelming. Definitely seems to handle better around town than it does at higher speeds which is perfect for my uses. Doesn't even have any of the issues with a finicky cluster like most of them do.

Now the Camaro is the odd one out, only vehicle I own that doesn't have a multiple of three cylinders.

This is exactly what I've witnessed in the market in the past few months. Decent examples going for $6-$7k yet being an 2007-2012....Just bizzare IMO. I'm holding out for a 3-4yr old bike with under 10-15k miles for $6k. I know its out there and i'll find it eventually. However if i found an 07-10 in good shape for under 4k I'd consider it.

Turns out I have a faulty stator. Ordered the parts on Ebay and will install once they arrive.
It's definitely the stator? These bikes have had two different recalls on the regulator-rectifier than can cause trouble

What was the failure you experienced on each battery?

FWIW I use the Battery Tender brand off Amazon in the Camaro. the 1.7lb 240CCA unit has been firing that thing up with no issues every time. I can flash tunes to it left and right, start it for a few seconds, flash it again, rinse repeat and the thing has never skipped a beat. Made it 25 miles on a dead alternator and completely drained it last year but it came back and keeps on trucking.

This one should be the same unit, original one was taken down

I've just been riding mine! the weather here has been perfect and I've been able to commute on it the last few days without getting cold, rained on, or sweaty.

Took a really good picture of it and that was when I noticed someone tried to steal one of the plastics bits from my fuel tank and broke all the tabs

Mine has been giving the C46 error code for an issue with the SET valve (butterfly valve in the exhaust to make it quieter and supposedly help with low-end torque). It has only done it a few times and I can't decide if i want to be bothered with adjusting the cable tension from the servo motor or just disable it and yank the wires.

It runs fine whether the light is on or off. Just annoying seeing it blink at you.
