Lelystad, Netherlands – The Netherlands-based car manufacturer Donkervoort is preparing to launch it’s first hard-top coupe. The maker of Lotus 7 inspired specialty cars with the heart of a modified Audi 1.8T plans on debuting its so-named D8 GT at the Geneva Auto Show this spring.

I might be able to say "nevar lose" not tongue in cheek regarding this thing.

I'm suprised they haven't started using the 2.0T since there is no added weight penalty or increase in external dimensions, but they get more hp/tq. I wonder if it is related to the tunability of the FSI heads.

I'm sure this is much more functional at high speeds and in cases like the Nurburgring where Donkervoort has been shooting for all-out production car lap records. Still, I'm a bit partial to the open top D8, more true to the Lotus 7 design.... but still a Lotus 7 on crack.

Since it's a Donkervoort, I'm thinking that the price will be somewhere in the $80K + range. It's gorgeous, but I'm still limited by my pocketbook: It'll be a Stalker v6 or a Westfield for me. *sigh*
