Rumor is, Audi of America is seriously considering the RS 4 Cabriolet for the American market. The RS 4 is selling better than expected, and Audi believes it could make a business case for the drop-top.

Now the traditional Audi enthusiast (myself amongst them) might grouse that it's not the Avant. That's a fair point, as hot Avants are a distinct part of Audi's heritage. Still, weigh some other facts that we've heard on other occasions that seem to add to the Cabriolet rumor.

    1) While Audi sells 1 Avant for ever 10 sedans in America, we are still the #1 Cabriolet market in the world.

    2) When the B8 production hits, sedan and Avant production will cease more rapidly than the Cabriolets, which are built in Osnabruck by Karmann Coachworks. From a production consideration, Audi could make the RS 4 Cabriolet longer than they can make the RS 4 sedan based on the gearing of their production facilities.

That would be pretty sweet. I would hold onto my sedan personally, but the more performance Audis around the better. Now, if they brought the Avant here...

hmm...a true rs4 [which should only come in an avant]
I may have to do some more digging, as I was about to get an s4 avant.

I'd really like an rs2 and a rs6+, and in my dream world a R8 w/ the lambo engine.

I'd prefer the Avant to the cabrio.... that kind of power in such a flexible chassis must be brutal... but it is good to hear that Audi is offering more models in the US

Remember the R32 pole? They should do one for the avant. As you'd agree MANY MANY of us would purchase the RS4 Avant in a heartbeat
