That there will be a road-going R8 is no surprise. Audi boss Dr. Martin Winterkorn has alluded to it several times, and the company has put out a press release of its official ‘R8’ nomenclature. There’ve been several mules spotted since that time, from an A6-bodied beast to a production-looking X-files style shot from far away and through a fence. Then today, Audi decided to give more than a peak by running this black polka-dot liveried mule around the Nurburgring.

... just a little bit anticipated. Imagine this thing in Imola yellow.

Looks SOOO kick ass.. The thing is Perfect!

Check out how Awesome those headlights are.. the headlights, with the open grill directly below it. Gotta be my favorite part of the car.

Also glad to see they angled the side intake/door line 'Forward', looks much more aggressive. (remember the concept was just straight 'up and down')

I'd take that one right there! No special color for me, Flat Black would be pure evil .

(maybe have the white dots painted over though )

Seriously though, this thing looks positively BADASS!

Come on Audi, get these suckers on the production line now!

Woooooo, now that is one hell of a car, and even with the polka dot look its awesome, and remember gentleman we are only looking at the aesthetics of the car, it will be interesting to see what’s inside and under the bonnet! And of course how she handles!!!!

Looks about the same to me (if I'm looking at the same line). There are quite a few changes but overall it is remarkably similar to the concept car.

Glad it doesnt have those bug larva looking LED lights. Novel idea, but doesnt flow with the car IMHO.

European mags are getting 4.3-4.4 0-60 times in the RS4...

The R8 will have the same motor, probably same specs.. and will probably be lighter than the RS4, so it should obviously hit 60 in under "4.3-4.4" and have a good chance in possible hitting 60 in the High 3's..... Point is, the car will be so similar in performance to the Gallardo that you wont be able to "PHYSICALLLY" tell the difference.

Expect it to slot in against the 911 and Aston Martin V8.

That is one heck of an ugly profile. The massive front-over-hang is very American circa 1970.

Direct your eye to a Ferrari 360/430 etc, same horrible front over hang.

Also direct your attention to the Ferrari Enzo... largest front overhang of any car I can remember!

You need a large front overhang in order to achieve a gradual downward slope of the hood for proper aerodynamics... Have too small of an overhang with a quick hood drop-off will hurt aerodynamics.
