Rumors abound about the upcoming mid-engined Audi R8 sportscar. About all that has been confirmed officially by Audi is the name ‘R8’, shared with the all-conquering racecar that contested and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans this past summer for the last time. The car’s design is known to be based heavily on the Le Mans quattro Concept from the 2003 Frankfurt Auto Show.

That looks about ready already! Or maybe they're just testing it in the concept car's shell... Unlikely, though. But kinda weird if the production version will bring nothing new styling-wise compared to the concept.

TT was kind of the same way.... very similar. In some ways, it's bragging rights. Few companies have shown the ability to bring a concept to production on the level of the TT.

You're right. The TT concept was very close to the production car. And it was still a fairly wild concept to be implemented into production with minor changes. And the TT is still a head turner on the road with its low and curvy roofline and round lines.

There are quite a few differences visible between this car and the show car. Seems quite likely that it is a production mule.
