Audi engineers were recently spied cold-weather testing the upcoming second generation TT. Largely undisguised, the cars featured plenty of styling cues from the recent Shooting Brake design study.

These photographs provide the best images so far of the coupe and roadster versions of the TT, providing a good indication of Audi’s latest design direction and a subtle evolution of the original iconic TT shape.

I'm usually fairly quick to embrace Audi's new styling changes, but I'm not really feeling this one, in particular the headlights. I'm seeing RSQ, maybe a little Le Mans Quattro concept in the lights, which in this implementation look quite like a number of japanese sedans.

Hopefully like most of their designs it will look great in the flesh.

Looking forward to seeing this car in it's final form.

Hopefully some of the TT's shortcomings will be addressed (seperate tonneau cover, no center arm rest, no Navi Plus...)

You know, I immediately dissed this the first time I saw it. But now it's actually starting to grow on me a little. I still wish it looked a little more like the current TT, and I think the tail and and convex rear window are kind of awkward. I guess I'll hold off on buying an '06 until I see how this turns out.

I like the direction Audi is going. This larger TT will hopefully fix 3 things I don't like about the current car: 1) no sunroof available in the Coupe, 2) more storage space available, 3) that ugly hood cut line above the grille. I will look forward to seeing the final version but my hope is that they will make the Shooting Brake.

Don't worry these are deceiving spy shots. I'm sure the final release will have the new grille with the correct headlights. The front bumper, grille and headlight facade seem to be "placeholder" pieces.

Maybe the instrument cluster might last 50K miles in the tt I like the shooting brake much better.

Hmmmm this is looking really bland. :| Hopefully due to the lowkey spy cladding, but I guess we'll see. As far as size goes, I think the current TT is perfect, especially when compared to land whales like the G35 Coupe. I really hope it doesn't get much larger. I can live with an inch or two.

Can't wait to see the real thing.
