I bought the 2005.5 S4 Cabriolet because I wanted the mid year updates but was worried about the integration of the new corperate face on the Cab. I so loved the styling of the cab (2002-2005) I was worried about taking the risk on the new design not measuing up. Well after some deep thought and contemplation based on the information and pictures on this site I have one word to sum up my feelings on the new car.

    Yuck.

Robert, your car won't be all that different from an S4 Cabriolet, just as the B7 S4 isn't all that different from the B6 mechanically. However, for a 1.8T vs. 2.0T plus S4 steering, plus new suspension, etc. the differences are much more obvious.

I actually prefer the newer look. A good side to the less drastic body panel changes for the Cabriolets is that for those not wanting to ditch their pre-B7, making the updated look won't entirely break the bank.

I have a hard time understanding why audi is still not offering led tails in the a4 range when vw offers them in the golf plus as standard???

When will deliveries be available in the US? How does this press release reconcile with the previously-posted "2006 Model Year Changes?" I hope this refreshed version is a 2006MY and not a 2007MY...

I have heard in the past that the B7 Cabriolet won't be here until next summer. Whether this means '06.5 or '07 remains to be seen. 2006 Cabriolets for now will be B6.

Here's what I've heard. Info is from a reliable source. USA/Canada B7 Cabriolet versions will definitely be 2007 model year cars. The earliest these will arrive at US/Canada dealerships is September 2006.

That seems to be quite an unreasonable delay for a very mild refresh (well ... maybe not ... I'd much rather have the 2.0T engine (will they finally offer Quattro with this base engine?!) than the 1.8T)! What's the rationale for it?

Let's see ... release official photos Sep 2005, watch Sep 2005 through Aug 2006 sales plummet, throw a party for Sep 2006 sales/deliveries?!

looks like a bar of soap. *bleh*

i'd still hit an s4 bar of soap though.

I gotta agree, it looks 'squished' on the sides. The tintop A/S4's have a nicely balanced rounded/squared off look that for some reason is not translated to the 'vert...

    EEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWW

    Here's the big question:

Will the B7 cab have the same type of price increase we saw with the b7 sedans/avants?

  14. 09-09-2005 12:35 AM #14
I have to agree with the several EEEEEEEEEEWWWWS and Yucks already expressed. This is a definte step backwards in the syling department.

    The front end looks squished!

    I prefer the old one.

I currently own a 2004 A4 Cabriolet, I must say this new freshen up is
even more elegant I've made more friends in my current car than anything I've ever owned...another lease is in my future...

For a better value, cross-shoppers might want to consider this:

I just spoke with a local dealer - he had documentaion on the upcoming B7 cabs and confirmed that the 3.2 FSI will be available with a six speed manual!! This will most likely be my next car. Can't wait.

When will the new A4/S4 cabriolet design be released in the USA? My local dealer told me that we'd have to wait unitl 2007. Thank you for your input.
