The following casting call was forwarded to Vortex Media Group and it was asked that we post it. It appears that a NY-based casting company is looking for a host for an upcoming car show for a major cable channel. If you think you have what it takes to perform the job, read on.Show Synopsis:
Casting talent for an entertainment show featuring cars. Show will be aired on a major cable station. Looking for outgoing personalities who are witty and irreverent with excellent skills in improv and interviewing. Knowledge of cars and specs a plus, more importantly, have an interest in the role of cars in pop culture. Contacts in the auto industry a plus.
Host:
We are looking for a host; male or female age 25 – 45. Wry and mischievous! Could be an up and coming comedian, but definitely someone funny and clever who has a strong interest or background in cars (technical, historical, hobby, sales, etc). The show is unscripted and relies on the host thinking on his/her feet and interacting with the other on screen characters. Remember, general car knowledge is key.
SHOOT:
Initially we are casting for a single pilot show to be shot in August, in Los Angeles. All travel and hotel accommodations for the pilot shoot will be covered by the production company.
RATE:
Compensation to be negotiated comparable to union scale or better.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Email: carshow@donnagrossmancasting.com with your headshot & resume (if you have one) and a creative cover letter stating why you’re perfect for this job.
2. Record a short, 3-5 minute VHS/mini DV tape and mail it to the address below. Pick a Car, show us the features, and tell us the impact this particular car has made on pop culture. It doesn't have to be your car; it can be a stranger's on the street. The funnier the better. You can improvise and make the whole thing up if you want. Let us see your personality and have fun!
Please submit all material to:

Amen brother.. If cynicism is the desired trait.. I'm their guy. Maybe I'll send some 6X9 B&W headshots over to the studio.![]()

headshots are so useless... actors never look like their headshots. a[edit: yes, the above-mentioned] video submission would give a much better representation of what they would look (and sound!) like.

Translation: We have no script either, and we are too cheap to hire writers, so we figure this is a good cheap solution

[Crickets] Man, that volleyball is just hovering above you. Somebody's gotta spike it. I won't, as I'm supposed to be a respectable admin, but man did you ever set that one up.

gtivr4 is right in all the wrong places. Reality shows don't save cash on writers - they need them - they save it on 'actors'.
#28
Yes... I work with the Casting Director.
#29
yeah i googled them, last night and picked up that he was wrong on all counts, i can also tell ya the show will likely be on discovery or tlc but i doubt i was suspossed to share that info![]()

I might be more interested in this if I knew the direction of the show.If it's a serious car show, intended to woo people who really like cars, then yes, that's cool.
If it's "pimp my ride" then no, it's not.

even better: "Race My Whip"
huge, overweight, blinged out SUV's and sedans ridin on 20's+ try to go around a track as fast as possible. . . without brake fade or roll overs. Now there's a television venture I could rally behind!
